We only fly in good weather. Please make car and/or hotel reservations that can be cancelled or changed.
Travel Tips: -Plan to arrive at the terminal at few minutes before departure and use the rest room. There is no lav on the plane but we are able to make a stop en route if necessary. We also carry gel bags for bio-emergencies. -Morning flights are typically smooth and calm. The best departure time is 7-10 am and the best time to return is late afternoon or the next morning. Afternoon travel from noon to 5 is typically bumpy in the summer due to air thermals. While not dangerous, mild turbulence can be uncomfortable for less experienced travelers. Airsickness bags can be found in the seat-back pockets (please find one way before you need one...). -Make sure to keep lap belts tight at all times. Turbulence can happen at any time and there is not much room between your head and the cabin ceiling (and the ceiling usually wins). -Please make your rental car reservation or taxi/limo/shuttle for the private terminal. Uber is probably the best way to arrange for ground transport since there are no reservations or cancellation fees; and it's typically the most economical. Hertz and Enterprise usually deliver cars to private terminals. We recommend reservations that can be cancelled at any time. -We recommend hotel reservations that can be cancelled the day of check-in. The weather forecast can change quickly but is relatively accurate 24 hours out. -Bring your headphones! Enjoy a movie or music during the cruise portion of the flight. Please turn your phone off during taxi, take off and landing.
Our 'Plain English' Terms and Conditions - By making a reservation you agree to these terms & conditions: West-Expeditions, herein also identified as ‘we’ and 'us' All persons in your party, herein identified as ‘you’ All trips require good weather en-route and at the departing and arriving airports for the safety and comfort of all guests. We will contact you at least 2 days before the trip date to confirm the trip is on-schedule or may need to be re-scheduled due to inclement weather. Weather forecasts 2 days out are relatively reliable; however, the actual go no-go decision is made a few hours before the flight when an official weather briefing is received from the National Weather Service (NWS). Good weather is defined as meeting all of the following: 1) If thunderstorms are forecast, no greater than ‘isolated’ at the time of flight in the area. 2) Ceilings (cloud bases) of 2000' AGL (Above Ground Level) or greater. 3) Visibility of 5 miles or greater. 4) Cross winds (winds perpendicular to the usable runway most aligned with the wind) of 15 knots (17 mph) or less. A standard weather briefing from the National Weather Service is required several hours before the actual flight. This briefing will be used to determine if the conditions are met. The pilot is the final authority in determining if a flight can be made safely.
It is important to note that the return flight may be delayed due to weather, even though a short-term forecast cleared the trip. In most cases we will wait until the weather clears. If the weather causes a delay of more than 12 hours we will provide alternate transportation.
Maximum weight per person is 275 pounds. Maximum total weight for the group (people and luggage) is 625 pounds for Category A-C flights; 615 for Category C, 575 for Category E, 550 for Category F and 530 for Category G. Everyone will be asked their weight before boarding and all bags will be weighed using a scale (per FAA regulations). If the total weight is over limit, weight will be removed (in some cases an extra-cost fuel stop may be added) until the maximum loading criteria is met. Please take the time to weigh all passengers and baggage before departing for the airport. If anyone in your party is more than 30 minutes late arriving to the airport and causes a flight delay, you agree to pay a 'delay fee' of $60 per hour ($1/minute) unless re-scheduled and agreed in advance. The 'delay fee' starts at 30 minutes after the scheduled boarding time and is due before departing.
Confirmed reservations require a 25% refundable deposit (non-refundable if you cancel less than 24 hours from departure). Full payment for round trip travel is required before departure and can be paid by PayPal, credit card or cash. West-Expeditions reserves the right to cancel or delay flights due to safety or equipment considerations. If we do cancel or delay, we will provide a detailed explanation and your deposit will be refunded.
Travel must be concluded within 1 year of purchase. This time limit does not include delays caused by us or due to weather, which will be added to the 1 year period.
Small pets are welcome and must travel in an enclosed carrier.
Federal law forbids the carriage of hazardous materials aboard aircraft in your luggage or on your person. A violation can result in five years' imprisonment and penalties of $250,000 or more (49 U.S.C. 5124). Hazardous materials include explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials. Examples: Paints, lighter fluid, fireworks, tear gases, oxygen bottles, and radio-pharmaceuticals. There are special exceptions for small quantities (up to 70 ounces total) of medicinal and toilet articles carried in your luggage and certain smoking materials carried on your person. For further information contact your airline representative. You agree to a security screening before boarding the plane. The security screening may include a request to review the contents of your bags and your pockets. Please make sure any aerosols (hair spray, deodorant,...) are capped to prevent unintentional discharge of flammable gas. Advise the pilot if you have pepper spray or similar defensive devices as they must be stored in the front baggage compartment. Any batteries not installed in a device must be packaged to prevent self-discharge. Firearms of any type, alcohol over 100 proof, and solvents (including nail polish remover) are not allowed on board.
You agree not to bring aboard and consume any food or beverage that may stain the cabin materials or cause unpleasant or strong odors. This includes nail polish remover, red wine, and chocolate. Foods and beverages that are allowed include water, white wine, beer and peanuts. You agree to store any food and/or beverage during taxi, take-off and approach. These Terms and Conditions may change without notice if required by law or regulation.
